The largest shopping center in Montenegro, Delta City in Podgorica, is changing its name to BiG Podgorica as a result of the recent change of ownership.
BiG Podgorica is already listed on Google Maps as the new name of Delta City, which was recently bought by the Israeli company BIG Shopping Centers for 95 million euros.
Let us recall that the Israeli company, as part of its expansion plans, intends to build and acquire new shopping centers in several Montenegrin cities.
There are also plans to take over the neighboring City Mall in order to create a unique retail park
The company BIG CEE, part of the Israeli group Big Shopping Centers, expressed interest in acquiring the City Mall shopping center in Podgorica after they recently bought the neighboring Delta City shopping center, sources familiar with the process told the portal Investor.
BiG's intention is to turn Delta and City Mall into a unique retail park modeled after a similar one they built several years ago in Belgrade's Karaburma district.
City Mall is owned by the Podgorica company Čelebić, which is also engaged in real estate construction and sales.
This move by the Israeli company is in line with statements that it will not stop at Delta, for which they allocated 95 million euros. According to Investors, after City Mall, BiG intends to acquire another large shopping center in Podgorica and then continue investing in some other cities in Montenegro, including Nikšić.
The so-called retail parks that BIG plans to build in Montenegro are a type of shopping center, mostly located outside the central areas of the city. They are mainly single-story buildings, without basements or upper floors, consisting of a number of separate units connected under one roof, and each retail unit has a direct entrance from the outside.
This unit most often has the shape of the letter "P", and also consists of access roads with parking spaces and a forecourt with green areas and promenades along the entrance to the premises.
