Minister of Economic Development and Tourism Goran Đurović, answering questions from members of parliament, said that with the creation of the Innovation Fund, the innovation and startup community has received a specialized institution that will be responsible for implementing innovation programs and attracting funds from other sources to support and develop innovative activity.
He added that digitalization in Montenegro is not at a satisfactory level.
“In addition to tourism and energy, the development of the IT industry is a direction for the development of our economy.”
URA MP Miloš Konatar asked what measures the state will use to support companies engaged in information technology (IT), as well as startups.
He said that last year the total revenue of the IT industry in Montenegro amounted to 147 million euros.
“Only the two largest IT companies together generated almost 60 million euros.”
He compared these figures with Luke Bar, whose revenue last year was 12 million euros, and with Plantaže, whose revenue was 23 million euros.
The minister also said that the government will invest significantly more money in the northern region.
“We will have a fantastic Wild Beauty Art event in Žabljak from July 10 to August 15, where we will promote the beauty of Montenegro. Žabljak will become the cultural capital of Montenegro in the near future,” said Đurović.
In addition, the minister said that strategic regulations are currently being created for the implementation of the 5G network in Montenegro, and that the ministry will announce an auction in the second half of the year for radio frequencies for the 5G network.
“I think we will be the first country in the region to implement the 5G network qualitatively,” he said, reports Investitor.me.
