By the beginning of September, Montenegro had already received tourism revenues planned in the budget for the entire year 2021, said Minister of Economic Development Jakov Milatović. He wrote on Twitter that over four months, from May 1 to August 31, 2.3 million foreigners arrived in Montenegro, which is five times more than in 2020.
The minister noted that in March, when the draft budget was submitted to parliament, few believed that the tourist season could be like this.
“Let me remind you that in 2019, which was a record year, Montenegro earned 1.1 billion euros from tourism, and last year only 144 million, which is 87% less than in 2019! This year's budget was planned at 660 to 710 million euros (i.e. 60–65% of the 2019 revenue),” Milatović wrote on Twitter.
