Infrastructure readiness for peak loads
The management of Airports of Montenegro states that both terminals are fully ready to handle the increased passenger flow. This year, special attention has been paid to reducing waiting times at passport control and improving service in the departure areas.
Experts predict that the 2026 season could become a record year in terms of the number of passengers carried, given the stabilization of the aviation market and the opening of new routes from Central European countries. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airports at least three hours before departure, especially in the peak months — July and August.

Wizz Air base in Podgorica: a breakthrough in air travel accessibility
A landmark event of the season was the opening on March 30, 2026 of the Wizz Air base in Podgorica. The low-cost carrier stationed two modern Airbus A321neo aircraft at the capital’s airport, making it possible to launch 17 new routes at once. Thanks to this move, the airports of Montenegro gained more than one million additional passenger seats per year. Now, from Podgorica, it is possible to fly directly and at affordable prices to cities such as Paris (Beauvais), Hamburg, Barcelona, Maastricht, and Valencia. The expansion of the presence of Europe’s largest low-cost carrier not only stimulates competition, but also creates around 80 direct jobs, strengthening Podgorica’s status as a key aviation hub in the Western Balkans region.
Important: This schedule is preliminary. Airports of Montenegro warn that airlines reserve the right to change flight times and frequencies depending on operational conditions.
