The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has improved its forecast for Montenegro’s economy. According to its new forecasts, the country’s economy should strengthen by 9% in 2021. In October 2020, the IMF forecast gross domestic product (GDP) growth at 5.5 percent.
In the new April issue of the IMF’s Global Economic Outlook, which was reviewed by Mina-business, it is stated that GDP should grow by 5.5 percent in 2022. In the report, IMF experts estimate Montenegro’s economic growth in 2026 at three percent. The decline in GDP in 2020 amounted to 15.2 percent.
The IMF forecasts GDP growth for this year in other countries in the region as well. GDP growth is projected at five percent for Serbia and Albania, 4.7 percent for Croatia, 4.5 percent for Kosovo, 3.8 percent for North Macedonia, and 3.5 percent for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
The IMF has also raised its estimate of global economic growth for this year to six percent, compared with its January forecast of 5.5 percent.
