For the period January-November 2022, companies and investors invested 764 million euros in Montenegro, of which 672.12 million were foreign investments. The inflow of investments from foreign citizens amounted to 308.43 million euros. According to the Central Bank of Montenegro, the net amount of foreign investments at the end of November 2021 amounted to 455.55 million euros.
For 11 months of 2021, foreign citizens and companies invested in companies and banks 159 million euros.
The Central Bank of Montenegro notes an increase in foreign investment in real estate
The Central Bank notes a growing trend of investment in real estate. Namely, according to the data available at the moment, foreigners paid as much as 245.73 million euros for it by the end of November 2021 — this is the highest annual amount since the previous economic crisis of 2008, caused by the rise in real estate prices worldwide. For many years, Russia has led the list of countries from which the largest amount of FDI came. Over the specified 11 months of 2021, its citizens and companies invested 129.54 million euros. This means that Russian citizens invest on average about 11.78 million euros per month. Of this, the largest amount — 49.46 million euros — goes to real estate they bought in Montenegro. Serbia ranks second on the list, and investments by its citizens over the same period reached almost 72 million euros. Here too, the larger part goes to the purchase of real estate in Montenegro, for which 33.16 million was allocated. Malta ranks third among investors with 70.37 million euros, but these investments consist almost entirely of company debt.
