The ranking is calculated based on GDP per capita, the quality of social systems, healthy life expectancy, citizens' well-being, the level of corruption, and freedom in countries around the world. In addition, the opinions of the citizens themselves about whether they are happy were taken into account.
The top three in the ranking were led by Finland, Denmark, and Switzerland. They are followed by Iceland, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, New Zealand, Austria, and Luxembourg.
Russia ranked ahead of Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Northern Cyprus, and Greece. The unhappiest countries are Zimbabwe, South Sudan, and Afghanistan.
